Better than expected, but winter cold and the extra bed setup situation are things to keep in mind Positive: We stayed here for one night in Kyoto, and honestly, it was much better than expected. The place is more spacious than it looks online, with a two-floor sleeping area and a nice living room, which was a pleasant surprise. Bettrer than some of the Google reviews suggest. There’s also a washing machine, which is a big plus when traveling. Negative: It was very cold in winter, so be prepared for that. It might also be too noisy for some people, although it didn’t bother us personally. One thing to note: there’s an extra charge for setting up the bed on the second floor. In our case, the host wasn’t able to bring the bed in the end, so my friend and I ended up sharing one bed.

Good location and peaceful area, perfect for a couple. Positive: The location is only 10 minutes or so walk from the main Kyoto station, it is close to food shopping and is in a quiet neighbourhood. The downstairs area is lovely, a big open plan bedroom, reasonable kitchen and nice bathroom overlooking the tiny garden. Negative: The attic upstairs where our son slept was pretty cramped, you couldn’t really stand up in bed due to the sloping roof and we couldn’t get the air conditioning unit upstairs to work despite several messages and correspondence with the owners.
